The V Foundation for Cancer Research, a top-rated cancer research charity, is proud to announce the 4th Annual Virginia Vine will be held April 27 and 28, at Stone Tower Winery and the Salamander Resort & Spa in Loudoun County, Va. Over the years, Virginia Vine has raised more than $560,000 for cutting-edge cancer research. The V Foundation is excited to have Joe Theismann, entrepreneur and former quarterback of the Super Bowl XVII champion Washington Redskins, back for the third year to host Virginia Vine. The V Foundation is also thrilled to welcome Stephanie McMahon, WWE Chief Brand Officer and television personality, as an honored guest and featured speaker.
“Virginia Vine is very meaningful and remarkably entertaining! People gather in beautiful Loudoun County to enjoy fine wines, gourmet food, great company and to raise funds for cutting-edge cancer research,” said Susan Braun, Chief Executive Officer of the V Foundation. “Since the V Foundation and the Governor’s office first began this event, it has grown and flourished, which is good for all involved, and especially for everyone who is touched by cancer.”
Friday evening, the V Foundation will host a welcome reception for VIPs and sponsors, including McGuireWoods and Smithfield Foods, at the Salamander Resort & Spa. The following morning, the V Foundation will hold a cancer research symposium, open to the public, at the Salamander Resort & Spa. Joseph Moore, M.D., V Foundation Board Member and Medical Director of the Duke Raleigh Cancer Center and Professor of Hematology and Oncology at Duke Cancer Center, will host the symposium, with guest speakers from Virginia Vine’s three mission partners – Inova, University of Virginia Health System and Massey Cancer Center at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Saturday evening guests are invited to “Raising Spirits, Raising Hope … An Evening of Fine Wine, Food and Conversation,” at Stone Tower Winery in Leesburg, Va. Guests are invited to a cocktail reception highlighting Virginia wine, followed by a seated, three-course meal, paired with Stone Tower Winery’s exceptional wines. The event will include a silent and live auction in addition to a “Fund-A-Need.” The funds raised will be granted to Virginia Vine’s three missions partners to support Connor’s Cure, as well as groundbreaking research projects across the country. Connor’s Cure was founded by WWE’s Paul “Triple H” Levesque and McMahon to honor the irrepressible spirit of Connor Michalek, who passed away from cancer at the age of eight. The V Foundation and Connor’s Cure partnered together in 2016 to achieve research breakthroughs so no child suffers as Connor did.
“This year’s event will be another incredible Virginia Vine weekend,” said Theismann. “It will be an opportunity to enjoy amazing food and wines, and we’ll have a chance to support groundbreaking research for children’s cancers. I look forward to welcoming Stephanie McMahon and hearing more about her work with kids.”
The V Foundation has proudly awarded more than $200 million for cutting-edge cancer research. The V Foundation holds a 4-star (highest) rating from Charity Navigator, America’s largest evaluator of charities, and is among the top 4% of cancer charities of all charities evaluated. The V Foundation is a GuideStar platinum-rated charity.
