Carl Liebert is a global business executive and board member with more than 30 years’ experience leading teams with purpose in customer-driven transformations that result in an inclusive employee experience, high customer satisfaction and increased shareholder value.
Carl is a Managing Director at the private equity firm American Securities, where he works with portfolio companies to ensure success and maximize value. Prior to joining American Securities, Carl gained multi-unit, multi-industry experience, including retail (AutoNation, 24Hour Fitness, The Home Depot, Circuit City), financial services (USAA), real estate (Keller Williams/kwx) and industrial (General Electric) organizations.
Carl currently serves as a board member for the V Foundation for Cancer Research, the Naval War College Foundation Board of Directors, the Naval Academy Foundation Athletic & Scholarship Program and the Board of Advisors for the Fuqua/Coach K Center on Leadership and Ethics. Carl previously served on numerous boards throughout his career including as a Director of USAA, Chairman of the Board for the USAA Real Estate Company and Vice Chairman of the Board for the USAA Bank. Additional prior board roles include the Consumer Bankers Association, the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors, Veterans of Foreign Wars Foundation, the Naval Academy’s Vice Admiral James B. Stockdale Center for Ethical Leadership, the Deming Center for Quality, Productivity and Competitiveness at Columbia Business School and KaBoom!
Carl is Six Sigma Master Blackbelt and received a BS in Physical Science from the United States Naval Academy and an MBA from Vanderbilt University Owen Graduate School of Management.
Carl and his wife, Amy, are proud parents of three sons and have six grandchildren and reside in Austin.
