Jim Allegro was a consultant to ESPN, Inc. from 1995 to 2002, primarily advising on the ESPY Awards. He served as the Executive Producer of the ESPYS from 1993 until 1995. Involved in numerous charities, he is most proud of his involvement with the V Foundation for Cancer Research.
Allegro simultaneously held the positions of Executive Vice President of Operations and Chief Financial and Administrative Officer at ESPN, Inc. from 1990 until his retirement in 1995. He was responsible for overseeing ESPN, Inc.’s administrative, financial, news, engineering and operations areas. Allegro served on the ESPN, Inc. Board of Directors from 1986 until 1997. Allegro’s combination of extensive television and financial experience with an entrepreneurial spirit helped to build ESPN, Inc.
Prior to joining ESPN, Inc., Allegro spent 14 years with Capital Cities/ABC, serving as Senior Vice President, Network Group for the ABC Television Network Group, where he coordinated operations with the Entertainment Broadcast Operations and Engineering, News and Sports Divisions.
Allegro joined ABC in 1977 as Vice President of ABC Publishing, and in 1979, he was named Senior Vice President. In 1981, he became Vice President Finance and Administration for ABC Owned Television Stations, and in 1985, he became Vice President Operations for that division. He was appointed to Senior Vice President of the Broadcasting Group in 1986.
