Rosa M. Gatti began directing ESPN, Inc.’s public relations in its first year of operation as one network. As Senior Vice President of Communications Counsel and Corporate Outreach, Gatti oversaw all communications initiatives for ESPN, Inc.
After joining ESPN, Inc. in 1980, Gatti spent years building the company’s communications department and establishing the policies and procedures for media relations, viewer response and speaking engagements. She became a Vice President of Communications in 1981 and was promoted to Senior Vice President seven years later. Gatti directed publicity for efforts such as SportsCenter, the America’s Cup, the NFL, the X Games and SportsCentury. A promotion in 2003 gave Gatti additional responsibilities for Corporate Outreach—the company’s employee volunteerism, corporate giving and cause marketing.
Prior to her career at ESPN, Inc., Gatti was the Sports Information Director at Brown University (1976-1980). During her tenure, she served as the publicity coordinator for several NCAA championships and chaired a variety of national sports information committees. She previously held board positions with the Cable and Telecommunications Human Resources Association, Boys and Girls Club of Bristol Family Center, the Franciscan Life Center and the 1995 Special Olympics World Games.
