Susan Scott is a distinguished leader in media and strategic communications, renowned for her ability to navigate and influence revenue growth and culture dynamics in media organizations. Born in Chicago, Susan’s curiosity, parental influence and proximity led her to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she studied political science. This academic foundation set the stage for a career marked by visionary leadership, strategic innovation and revenue growth.

Susan’s professional journey includes significant roles at industry giants such as The Weather Channel, Fox News Channel, Comcast, and Turner Broadcasting. At Turner, she spearheaded the international launch of TNT and The Cartoon Network, managing complex projects across Europe, Asia, and Latin America, adding more than $175 million in value to the Turner portfolio.

As President of PTMMG, Susan represents 41 PBS member stations that reach 70% of U.S. households and raise more than $460 million annually in philanthropic dollars. Her leadership combines strategic revenue initiatives with policy advocacy, ensuring public television remains a crucial resource nationwide. Prior to leading the PTMMG, Susan was the Chief Growth Officer at PBS-North Carolina where she led all fundraising sectors: advertising, membership, grant solicitation and major gifts, securing the largest gifts in the station’s history and growing revenue by 32% over three years.

Susan’s commitment to communication and community engagement is evident in her role as a Google News Initiative coach, to help digital publishers like Capital B, Block Club Chicago, Maine Trust for News, and The Atlanta Voice increase their sponsorship revenues. Susan curates Jeffersonian Dinners for leading business owners, facilitating small and intimate, sometimes difficult, impactful, always kind discussions about social, economic, and political issues to create and strengthen connections in industries, associations and communities. Susan is a regular moderator of author conversations for KPJR Films® Book Club and is a regular contributor to a variety of podcasts. Susan’s most recent board service includes The Carolina Theater, Prevent Child Abuse, YMCA, and the Durham Sports Commission.

Inspired by her late brother, ESPN’s Stuart Scott, Susan is dedicated to cancer research philanthropy. She actively supports fundraising for research and treatment aimed at eliminating health disparities, serving on the national V Foundation’s “Don’t Ever Give Up” board.

Currently residing in Durham, North Carolina, Susan is committed to her board service and focused on nurturing the next generation of leaders and innovators. She aims to inspire leadership, commitment, and inclusivity in the media industry. As a mother of two successful adult daughters, she proudly considers herself a “bird launcher” rather than an “empty nester.”
