Tom Cabaniss

Tom Cabaniss was Managing Partner of McGuireWoods LLP, a thousand lawyer national and international law firm, from 2007 through 2018.  McGuireWoods has offices across the country and internationally.    Over his career, Cabaniss has been in the firm’s Norfolk and Tysons Corner Virginia offices and in the firm’s Charlotte NC office.  Cabaniss is currently a Senior Partner in McGuire Woods’ Richmond, VA and Raleigh, NC offices.  He began his law practice when he joined a firm in Norfolk, VA in 1975 right out of law school and then he joined McGuire Woods in 1985 and has been there ever since..  He did his undergraduate studies at N.C. State University, graduating in 1972 with a BS in Industrial Engineering.  He currently serves on the Board of Trustees of N.C. State.   He also graduated from the UVA Law School in 1975.  He currently resides in Richmond, VA and has one daughter, Clara Cabaniss who resides in Durham, NC.
