V Foundation Review Process and Policies

For each group of incoming applications within a grant opportunity we assemble a panel of reviewers that includes the Scientific Advisory Committee and, as needed for specific expertise, Ad Hoc reviewers. This group of scientific experts carefully reviews and recommends proposals for funding. Proposals are scored based on the NIH Impact Scoring Scale (1-9).

We have confidentiality and conflict of interest policies that protect applicants and help ensure unbiased review. After each reviewer submits their initial scores and comments based on the review criteria for that grant program, the panel meets to discuss and determine a final list of grants eligible for funding. Based on the available funding, grants are offered to applicants in rank order of recommendation.

Ready to Review?

Thank you for agreeing to serve as a reviewer! We are grateful for your time and expertise! Detailed review instructions and timing will be sent to you by a V Foundation staff member. Application assignments are accessible via our online system, SmartSimple. Please take a moment to sign in and confirm that you can access your reviewer dashboard and invitations to review. For new applications, you will be asked if you have any conflicts of interest prior to reviewing the proposals (COI policy is available at this step).

If you have questions, please reach out to us at grants@v.org and we will be happy to assist you.
